We realize the importance of making your wedding day one of the most memorable days of your life.  We take great care to ensure that.  Musically speaking, a wedding reception is unlike any of the other events that we do, in that we have to accommodate a wider range of musical tastes. This is where our knowledge, experience and vast musical library all come together.  Throughout the reception, you can be assured, that we will play music that will appeal to the widest range of musical tastes.

Miles Sound DJ's are well trained professional MC's who can help coordinate activities with the banquet personnel, photographer, and the newlyweds.  From the Bridal Information Organizer, we obtain all pertinent information to insure that the reception flows smoothly from one event to the next.

BACKGROUND MUSIC - As your guests enter the reception area, they are greeted by soft background music that enhances the atmosphere in the room.  Usually a mix of different styles such as classical, light jazz, soft pop and romantic ballads are played.

GRAND ENTRANCE - MILES SOUND WEDDING DJ, Burbank, Los Angeles, Southern California, Bride, Groom

We ask all the guests to be seated, and mention that in a few moments the Grand Entrance will occur.  The people to be introduced are lined up in the order stated on the Bridal Information Organizer.  In addition to the bride and groom, the grand entrance can include the parents and the bridal party members.  As they are introduced, they should proceed to the head table.

FIRST DANCE PLACEMENT -

The placement of the first dance depends on when the meal is to be served.  If there is ample time before the meal, we suggest doing the first dance immediately after the grand entrance.  This seems to get the reception moving along and opens up the dance floor for those who wish to dance.   This is all up to you, some people would like to wait until after the meal to have the first dance.

FIRST DANCE FORMAT -MILES SOUND WEDDING DJ, Burbank, Los Angeles, Southern California, Bride

The bride and groom are introduced again, and invited to share in their first dance together as husband and wife, dancing to the song that they have previously selected on the Bridal Information Organizer.  After the newlyweds dance to all or part of the song, we call up both sets of parents to join in on the dance floor, followed by the bridal party and then the guests.  Some people prefer to incorporate the father-daughter dance and the mother-son dance into the first few dances.  We find that it gets to be a lot of partner-switching, but it can be done.  It is usually better to save these special dances for later, such as before the cake cutting.

TOAST - In most cases, the best man is the one who makes the toast to the bride and groom.   The best time to do this is before the meal or between the salad and the main course.  Other toasts can be given by the maid/matron of honor, the parents or friends.  An alternate time for the toast would be right before the cake cutting.

CAKE CUTTING - MILES SOUND WEDDING DJ, Burbank, Los Angeles, Southern California, Bride

The cake cutting ceremony is usually done about one to two hours after the meal unless it is to be served as the only desert, which is frequently the case.   We announce that the cake cutting is going to take place and play soft music while the newlyweds cut the cake.

BOUQUET AND GARTER TOSS - MILES SOUND WEDDING DJ, Burbank, Los Angeles, Southern California, Bride

The best time to do this is late in the reception, shortly before the end.  We call all the single ladies up to the dance floor, play an appropriate song as they assemble, and give a count off for the bride to toss the bouquet.   Next, we call up all of the single men to gather around.  The groom then removes that garter from the brides leg and we give a count off for the garter toss. [The most commonly requested song for the garter removal is "The Stripper", however, you may request a different song.]

MONEY DANCE - Some traditions include this in the wedding reception, others do not.   If you want a money dance, we ask all of the women to form a line to dance with the groom and we do the same for the men and the bride.  Each person must contribute money in order to dance with the bride or groom.  We play several slow songs during the money dance so as to get as many people participating as possible.  This can be a lot of fun, though it can take ten to twenty minutes to complete if the guest list is very large.

OTHER ACTIVITIES - Announcements of special thanks can be made to those who have helped in preparation for the wedding.  Introductions of out of town guests, and congratulations to those celebrating birthdays and anniversaries can also be made.

THE CENTERPIECES - A good way of giving away the centerpieces is by asking the guests to pass a spoon around each table to the accompaniment of music.  When the music stops, the person holding the spoon gets the center piece.  There are also other ways of having this activity done, such as merely giving it to the person who's birthday, or anniversary falls closest to the day of the event, etc.

LAST DANCE AND GOODBYES - When the newlyweds are ready to leave, we call them up to the dance floor, playing the song that was used for their first dance, or another song of their choice.  We congratulate the couple and thank the parents for their contribution to the wedding and reception.  We also thank the guests for coming and make an announcement when the bridal couple is ready to leave.
